Day 17
Hello friends! Don’t worry; you didn’t miss an entry yesterday. Funny story about that…so I actually came downstairs after lunch, packed up my laptop and everything, and even brought the charging cord because I knew I had forgotten to charge it prior. I get to the library and get all set up and go to plug it in, but the only available plug is through like a little hole and the charging port won’t fit through there because it’s too big. :( I searched the entire library and couldn’t find another outlet to use, unless I wanted to sit on the floor. And I cannot get off the floor without help, so I decided that was a bad idea. Lol. But, they do have decks of cards here to use so I decided to play solitaire. Lol. I actually had to look up how to play because I forgot how. Lol. And I even had considered bringing my book that day, but decided not to because it makes my bag heavier and I knew what I wanted to write about. That’ll teach me. Lol. Anyway, so I have two bummers I was going to write about yesterday. First one: remember how I told you after I hit day 14 I was supposed to be approved for a new menu and I was super excited about it? Well, day 14 fell on the weekend and apparently they don’t take orders from the special menu on the weekend, so I had to wait until yesterday to order from there. There was an olive burger on the menu I had been eyeing all weekend. So I called to order lunch and they told me I wasn’t approved for the new menu. So I called my nurse to ask about it and she said the nutritionist has to approve it and add me. Welp, turns out she wouldn’t approve me for it due to my allergies. 😫 (My allergies include, coconut, ginger, nutmeg, pineapple juice, and cloves.) They said since this food is prepared in a different area, they can’t guarantee they would be allergen free, so that’s a HUGE bummer! What stinks even more is that none of my allergies are severe. I just get sick to my stomach if I consume or smell them. But I was determined to get my olive burger so you know what I did? I went downstairs to the cafeteria and ordered it myself. Doing this means I had to pay for it, but I didn’t care. Lol. I’m getting bored with the food here and I had waited 3 days for it at this point so I was getting it! Lol. Don’t worry, I was fine. So the other bummer about yesterday…the MFM team came in in the morning, as they usually do, and they were asking me how I was doing, if there was anything they could to do help, etc. One thing they asked was if there was anything I could think of that wasn’t currently offered to see if they could look into it. Then one of them clarified when my delivery date is scheduled for, and told me it’s a bummer it’s not just a week later because they’re having someone come in and do mani pedis and hair free of charge. Y’all, I could cry! Remember when I said how amazing it would be to have someone come in and do that?! Ugh. Granted idk if I would trust anyone other than my regular stylist to touch my hair, other than to style it, but still. I’m so bummed. Granted I could pay someone to come in and do it, and my friend Melissa did find one place that does this service, but holy goodness is it expensive! I still don’t even know if I’m getting a paycheck while I’m in here so I decided getting that would not be financially responsible at this point in time. One other thing I did think of though, is doing maternity photos! I was considering having some done, prior to my admittance here, since this will be our last baby, but I never really got the chance. They said they’ll look into it, so that would be cool if they’re able to bring someone in to do that. But also, if y’all have any other suggestions for services that could be offered to patients or other activities for us to do, please sound off in the comments, (or PM me), so I can pass it along to them.
Alright, I know that first paragraph was super long and was a run-on, so sorry about that. Lol. So normally when Chris comes to visit on the weekend, I ask him to bring me new clothes, and anything else I may want or need throughout the week. This week, however, I failed to ask for more zip up hoodies, and today I realized I only have one, and I just took a shower so I don’t want to put the dirty one back on. 😕 I meandered to the gift shop over here on the children’s side to see if they had any options, but their dang zip ups are $50! They look like they are nice quality, but I just can’t bring myself to spend that. I plan to check out the gift shop on the side of the hospital I”m at as well, but I’m sure their prices will be about the same, unfortunately. I did find some ones on Amazon for $14, so I’m going to ask my nurse later if it’s possible for me to order them and have them sent here. I hope that’s a possibility. Thankfully it’s typically not too cold in here, and I do have some long sleeved shirts I can wear if I do get cold, but I would just prefer to have the zip up available.
I don’t have a whole lot of other updates for you guys. Things are pretty boring around here, but on this floor, boring is good. Lol. One of the MFM doctors comes in everyday and checks my book progress, so I feel pressured to make sure I”m reading that everyday so she doesn’t think I’m a slacker. Lol. But I did tell them I’m doing a lot of writing too, so there’s that. There’s a whole lot of commotion going on in the library today and I don’t really know what its about, and it’s kind of distracting, but that’s okay. Lol. There’s also a professional photographer outside taking pictures of some employees, so I’m curious what that’s for as well. Busy day around here I suppose. And now there’s a guitar playing. I’m so confused y’all. Lol. I know all of this is super random, so you are welcome for the play by play. Lol. I might get some ice cream today after I leave the library. Melissa and I got some last week when she came to visit, but I’d like to try some of their other stuff to see how it is too.
I know I’ve done this several times now, but I am going to take some time to thank a few people that have gone out of their way to help our family while I am admitted. First I’m going to thank our friend and coworker, Zach, for coming over to mow our lawn. It’s unfortunately pretty difficult for Chris to do, because he obviously can’t leave Ezra unattended, or leave him with Emmett and Grace for that long, (1-2 hours). So that was a very kind gesture. It was much needed and is much appreciated! Again, I’m going to thank Jessyca for being willing and able to pick up Ezra pretty much any time we need, and watching him until Chris is out of work, as well as Chris’s brother, Francois. I also want to say thank you to my friend Lisa, and coworker, Sue, for buying gift cards for food so Chris has one less thing to worry about during the week. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we are blessed beyond measure, and we can never express enough gratitude to those who have helped us out during this challenging period of our lives.
I do get a lot of comments/messages asking how I am doing. Overall, I’d say I’m doing pretty well, all things considered. While it sucks being here and being away from my family, the staff here has been nothing short of wonderful, and I know I’m receiving the absolute best care. I tend to be quite the homebody, and while I’m not actually at home, I do pretty okay just being stuck in one place. I am thankful I have the opportunity and capability to wander around as I please, and that I am able to go outside and enjoy the sunshine! (I’m not doing that today because it’s only 50 degrees here. Brrr!) I could probably ramble on about more random nothingness, but I think I’ll move on to some writing that I’m doing just for me. ;) Signing off for now. Bye friends. And remember, Jesus loves you!
