Day 18

Hello friends! Today is day 18 of me being admitted to the hospital. I wish I would’ve realized it during yesterday’s entry, but yesterday marked 17 days in, and 17 days until baby’s scheduled delivery date, so that means I’m over halfway now! Granted, I will still be admitted 4-5 days after the surgery, and baby will likely be spending 2-4 weeks in the NICU, but we are getting closer! Honestly, I’m unsure how to feel about it. While I am excited to meet our last little bundle of joy, I am still quite nervous and terrified. I am sure I will be anxious the few days leading up to delivery, but luckily my MFM team said they will be able to prescribe me some anxiety meds to help me cope. I just know the day of I’m going to be an absolute mess. It’s going to be so hard knowing Chris won’t be able to go with me into the OR, but I know God’s got us.

Let me tell you a little bit about my day today. So I headed down to the library around 2:20 I think. I decided to order Starbucks today because it sounded good. I always order ahead but they were quite busy today so I had to wait about 10 mins for my drink, nbd. After that, I walked down to the library and got everything all set up, only to realize my battery was at 8% and I didn’t bring the charger with me. Jeanine, the lovely librarian that works here, tried a charger they have here but sadly it didn’t work. So I ran (not literally) back up to my room to go get it and made the trek back down. Luckily there is a power strip nearby, and Jeanine confirmed one of the things plugged in was safe to remove and plug in my computer, so that was very nice of her! By the time I actually got everything up and running it was about 3:00, so I’m glad I didn’t head down here later. Lol. Anyway, let me tell you about a much more exciting portion of my day! So, as I had mentioned yesterday, I told the MFM team that it would be cool to be able to get maternity pics done while I’m here. Today, one of them came in and said he was talking to other patients to see if they would be interested as well, and that one of the other girls on my floor is a photographer and she would be happy to provide her services! How cool is that?! He said if I was interested, he’d let her know so we could get in touch. About 5 mins later, she comes knocking on my door to introduce herself. Her name is Rachel, and she’s literally my next door neighbor. Lol. Literally just the next room over. So that’s pretty neat. We chatted for a few mins and have plans to do photos either later this week or possibly next week. We wanted to do it tomorrow, but there's a 90% chance of rain. 🙁Rachel and I have plans to have dinner together tonight so we can chat and get to know each other a bit. Look at me actually socializing. lol. Also, when I was chatting with the doctor, I mentioned I wasn’t sure what I would wear because I just have plain tops and leggings here, so he asked what I like and what size I am, to see what he could do. My nurse came in about an hour later stating that another nurse from another floor had overheard them talking and said she has a maternity dress that would be absolutely perfect, and was one of the colors I mentioned and in the size I need! I am seriously just in awe. Firstly, because I have doctors that see me as more than just another medical case and truly see me as a person, and recognize that it’s hard to be in here and want to try and make my stay more comfortable. I honestly think that’s so cool. And, they’re actually making it happen! I literally just mentioned it yesterday and now it’s going to become a reality. While I’m really not looking forward to all of these medical bills, I am extremely thankful for such an amazing care team. I promise to share all the photos to my fb page once they are returned to me. 🙂 One other good thing that happened today…I think I mentioned the other day that I’m out of clean zip up hoodies because I forgot to ask Chris to bring them on Sunday. Well I had asked one of the nurses if I could order some on Amazon and have them shipped here, and she said I could, but it would likely take an extra day or two to make it up to me because it has to go through their mailroom. I figured that’s no big deal, as they would still get here sooner than Saturday, which is when Chris will be here. I saw that they were shipped late last night and would be out for delivery today. I got a notification that they were delivered around 10:00 this morning, so I was just hopeful to get them by tomorrow. Low and behold, the same nurse I talked to yesterday brought them to my room just a couple hours later! Even she was shocked they made it up to this floor so quickly. They are a perfect fit, and are nice and light, just like I wanted. So far today has definitely been one of the better days. Lots of good things! The only snafu so far was apparently my employer is still waiting for an approval letter from the company we use for short term disability claims. They sent in one for FMLA approval, but we’re hoping I’ll be able to utilize short term disability, that way I still get paid and I’m reimbursed all my PTO I’ve been forced to use while they figure all this out. I’m honestly not sure what’s taking them so long because I called them the Monday after I was admitted, so they’ve had ample time to request everything they needed and get it over to my employer. So that’s pretty annoying, but hopefully that will get straightened out soon. When I got down to the library today, there’s a flyer for a game day that’s going on on Saturday, so it’s a bummer we don’t have Emmett & Grace this weekend because they would love that. But Chris still plans to come with the baby so maybe they’ll have something for him to do. Lol.

I don’t have a whole lot else for you guys today, but at least today’s entry was mostly filled with good news! I think maybe I’ll go work on the personal writing I’ve been doing before the library closes. Hope y’all are having a good week, and I hope to have more for you tomorrow. Bye friends, and as always, Jesus loves you!
